The first weekend in November I was selected to participate in the artist work day for an event called Art Con. 150+ artists are selected to come to a warehouse in downtown Dallas and create a piece of collectable art in 1 day. It took me about 8 hours to create my painting😬 Speed has never been my thing, so 8 hours was actually a pretty good time for me to complete a whole piece. Here she is sitting atop the auction rack:
I used the opportunity to test out an idea and process for my new body of work that I’ve been planning, and will start creating in January 2019. It went well, and I’m excited to continue this new series! You can read more about it on my About page.
All of the artwork created on Artist Day was auctioned off at the Art Con main event November 10, with proceeds benefitting a local theater organization called Cry Havoc. A few years ago when I decided to pursue an art career I wanted to use my art to help others. I’m grateful for several opportunities this fall and winter to do that! One of my art business mantras is
“Give more than you take.”
One of my favorite parts of this event was seeing all of the incredible art and creativity…just…wow. I was so honored to be able to participate in this incredible event and cause and hope I get to do it again one day!
P.S. Have you signed up to receive Breemail yet? I’m only sending 1 email per month (unless there’s something I have to say worth breaking that rule) AND you’ll get access to my curated playlist called “Calm Creativity” when you subscribe……and we all need more playlists in our lives, amiright? Especially ones that conjure creativity :)
Love you all,
