After a lot of consideration I’ve decided it’s time for me to take an Instacation🏖⁣
⁣
I wanted to illustrate one reason for stepping away from Instagram using this quote from @marieforleo that I heard her say on her podcast. I ended up totally going overboard with it, as you can see in the process video😂 Irony at its best, folks.⁣
⁣
This quote stuck with me because most of the time I’m running around in 90 different directions trying to do all these things to grow my art practice & business. I knew when she said that, I needed to simplify some things that consume my time and mental space because I’m attempting to cram every aspect of an art business (making art, coming up with new ideas, marketing, website, packing & shipping orders etc etc) into a very small section of my total time pie🥧⁣
⁣
As much as I love the community and the many positive aspects and wonderful people on this platform, recently it’s become a significant source of negativity for me. This isn’t the reason I decided to step away from Instagram for a while, but it was the trigger, for which I’m grateful because it caused me to evaluate the cost vs. benefit aspect of using Instagram as my main marketing platform for my art. ⁣
⁣
Because I have a “real job” and I’m also a practicing artist with a family, time is my most valuable commodity. Every minute I spend on Instagram is a minute I could be using to make more art, brainstorm & research new ideas, attend an art opening or other art event, spend time with my family, and so many other things that will ultimately be more beneficial in my life. I still see the value here, but I need to reset the scales.⁣

UGH it’s so hard for me to take a normal picture🙈 Anyone else have this problem?⁣

I had some photos taken last year and my wonderful photographer said that my paintbrush made me look more natural and relaxed, so she recommended that I hold it even in photos where I wasn’t painting. Sometimes I wonder if I should just carry this paintbrush around with me all the time.....that wouldn’t be weird, right?👩🏻‍🎨⁣⁣
